The telecommunications center of Theo Hotz in Zurich-Herdern, completed in 1978, is characterized by a great variety of forms, use of numerous materials and highly developed construction technology. Various infrastructures are crossing through the building. Overlaps are created, which can be read on the modules of the metal façade and are thus symbolically charged. The telecommunications center is directly related to the international architecture of the time.
The in-depth study analyzes the relationship of the building’s materiality to its symbolic content and its rational appearance.
