Election to Federal Commissions

Silke Langenberg elected to two federal commissions

Silke Langenberg, Professor of Construction Heritage and Preservation, was elected to the Federal Commission for Monument Preservation as well as the Federal Commission for the Protection of Cultural Property by the Federal Council at the end of the year.

The Federal Commission for Monument Preservation (EKD) is the federal advisory commission for archaeology, monument preservation and site protection. As an extra-parliamentary commission, it is independent of the administration and politics. The secretariat of the EKD is run by the Federal Office of Culture (BAK).

The Federal Commission for the Protection of Cultural Property (FCPCP) is an extra-parliamentary commission with an advisory function. It is responsible for all issues relating to the protection of monuments, archaeological sites and collections in museums, archives and libraries in the event of armed conflicts, disasters and emergencies. The Cultural Property Protection Division is part of the Federal Office for Civil Protection (FOCP).
